Why sowsow cards feel different

sowsow often places Pokémon inside richly observed everyday scenes - rooms, gardens, landscapes, quiet corners, and playful environments filled with small details. The result can feel less like a character posed for a card and more like a glimpse into a tiny world.

Story-filled scenes

Background objects, plants, weather, lighting, and setting often do as much storytelling as the Pokémon itself.

Playful color

The palette ranges from soft and cozy to bright and saturated, which makes the collection visually varied without losing its personality.

Accessible to deep

You can collect favorite artworks, one of each English card, or chase the full English master including reverse holos, promos, special foils, and other printings.

There is more than one good way to collect sowsow

Choose a rule that matches how much detail you enjoy tracking. You can always expand later.

1Favorite artwork

Collect the Pokémon and scenes you love most. This is the simplest way to build a visually personal sowsow collection.

2One of each English card

Track each distinct English card number without requiring every finish or promotional printing.

3English master collection

Track recognized English finishes, promos, stamped versions, special foils, and separately issued printings as individual entries.

Identify each card

  • Confirm the illustrator credit reads “Illus. sowsow.”
  • Match the English set and collector number.
  • Check the finish or promotional origin when variants matter to your goal.

Keep languages separate

This guide deliberately tracks physical English releases only. Japanese and other-language catalogs can contain different numbers, promotions, and release patterns, so they are better maintained as separate checklists.

The details that shape a sowsow collection

These answers explain the scope behind AJT's checklist and why totals can differ between databases.

How many sowsow Pokémon cards are there?

There is no single universal total because databases count unique artworks, physical printings, finishes, promos, languages, collaborative cards, and Pokémon TCG Pocket differently. AJT's current English master checklist contains 220 documented released physical-English entries under the printing-and-finish rules used on this page.

What counts as a separate master-set entry?

A separate documented physical English printing or finish can receive its own row. That means Normal, Reverse Holo, special promotional foils, stamped cards, and separately issued promo printings may all be tracked independently.

Are Japanese cards included?

No. This guide is intentionally English-only. Japanese and other-language sowsow cards should be tracked in their own catalogs rather than mixed into one checklist.

Does this include Pokémon TCG Pocket?

No. Pokémon TCG Pocket is a digital catalog and is kept separate from physical English Pokémon TCG cards.

What about collaborative cards?

The Pikachu V-UNION SWSH139-142 artwork is collaborative. sowsow is one of the contributing illustrators, so AJT includes the four separately numbered physical English pieces while clearly identifying them as collaborative artwork.
